Chapter on Nullifiers of Ablution – The Prophet’s command to perform ablution after eating food touched by fire
Hadith Number: 1147
اخبرنا ابن قتيبة ، قال: حدثنا حرملة بن يحيى ، قال: حدثنا ابن وهب ، قال: اخبرنا يونس ، وعمرو بن الحارث ، عن ابن شهاب ، ان عمر بن عبد العزيز حدثه، ان عبد الله بن إبراهيم بن قارظ حدثه، انه وجد ابا هريرة على ظهر المسجد يتوضا، فساله، قال ابو هريرة : إنما اتوضا من اثوار اقط اكلتها، إن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: " توضا مما مسته النار" . قال ابو حاتم رضي الله عنه: هكذا اخبرنا ابن قتيبة، وقال عبد الله بن إبراهيم بن قارظ، وإنما هو إبراهيم بن عبد الله بن قارظ.
Abdullah bin Ibrahim narrates: He found Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) performing ablution on the roof of the mosque. He asked him about this, so Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) informed him that he had eaten pieces of cheese. For this reason, he was performing ablution, because the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perform ablution after eating something cooked on fire." Imam Abu Hatim (may Allah have mercy on him) states: This narration has been reported by Ibn Qutaybah in the same way, and he mentioned the narrator's name as Abdullah bin Ibrahim, whereas his name is Ibrahim bin Abdullah. (Imam Ibn Hibban (may Allah have mercy on him) says:) Likewise, this narration has been reported to us by Ibn Qutaybah, and he says to us: The narrator's name is Abdullah bin Ibrahim bin Qariz, although his name is Ibrahim bin Abdullah bin Qariz.

Hadith Number: 1148
اخبرنا احمد بن علي بن المثنى ، قال: حدثنا عبيد الله بن معاذ ، قال: حدثنا ابي ، عن شعبة ، عن ابي بكر بن حفص ، عن الاغر ابي مسلم ، عن ابي هريرة ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: " توضا مما مست النار" .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Perform ablution after eating something cooked on fire."

Chapter on Nullifiers of Ablution – Permission to omit ablution after eating cooked sheep meat
Hadith Number: 1149
اخبرنا الحسين بن محمد بن ابي معشر ، قال: حدثنا محمد بن وهب بن ابي كريمة ، قال: حدثنا محمد بن سلمة ، عن ابي عبد الرحيم ، عن زيد بن ابي انيسة ، عن شرحبيل بن سعد الانصاري ، عن ابي رافع ، مولى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال:" اهديت لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم شاة، فشوي له بطنها، فاكل منها، ثم قام يصلي ولم يتوضا" .
Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A goat was presented to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), its stomach was roasted for him, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ate it. Then he got up and performed prayer, and he did not perform ablution again.

Chapter on Nullifiers of Ablution – Permission to omit ablution after eating cooked sheep meat
Hadith Number: 1150
اخبرنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم بن إسماعيل ، ببست، ومحمد بن الحسن الخليل ، بنسا، قالا: حدثنا هشام بن عمار ، قال: حدثنا حاتم بن إسماعيل ، قال: حدثنا موسى بن عقبة ، عن صالح بن كيسان ، عن الفضل بن عمرو بن امية الضمري ، عن عمرو بن امية ، انه" راى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يحتز من عرق ياكل، فاتى المؤذن بالصلاة، فالقى العرق والسكين من يده ولم يتوضا" . قال إسحاق، عن الفضل بن عمرو بن امية، عن ابيه، ولم يذكر الضمري وقال:" يحتز من عرق فاتاه الإذن بالصلاة". وقال:" من يده وصلى ولم يتوضا".
Sayyiduna Amr bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) eat meat, then the muezzin called for prayer, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) put aside the bone and the knife that were in his blessed hand, and he did not perform ablution again. The narrator named Ishaq has transmitted this narration with his chain from Fadl bin Amr from his father. He did not mention the name of Sayyiduna Amr bin Umayyah al-Damri (may Allah be pleased with him) and he mentioned these words: "You were eating meat from the bone, then the call for prayer came." This narrator also transmitted these words: "You put (the knife) from your hand aside, and performed the prayer, and did not perform ablution again."

Chapter on Nullifiers of Ablution – Clarification that omitting ablution after eating sheep shoulder was after the command to perform ablution from food touched by fire
Hadith Number: 1151
اخبرنا ابن خزيمة ، قال: حدثنا احمد بن عبدة الضبي ، قال: حدثنا عبد العزيز بن محمد ، عن سهيل بن ابي صالح ، عن ابيه ، عن ابي هريرة ،" انه راى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم توضا من ثور اقط ثم رآه اكل كتف شاة فصلى ولم يتوضا" .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) perform ablution after eating pieces of cheese. Then he saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) eat the meat of a goat's shoulder and perform prayer without renewing his ablution.

Chapter on Nullifiers of Ablution – Permission to omit ablution after eating cooked grains
Hadith Number: 1152
حدثنا الحسين بن إدريس الانصاري ، قال: حدثنا احمد بن عبدة الضبي ، قال: حدثنا حماد بن زيد ، عن يحيى بن سعيد ، عن بشير بن يسار ، عن سويد بن النعمان ، قال: اقبلنا مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، حتى إذا كنا على روحة من خيبر، دعا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بطعام فلم يوجد إلا سويق، قال: فاكلناه، ثم دعا بماء فمضمض رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، وصلى ولم يتوضا" .
Sayyiduna Suwaid bin Nu’man (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were coming along with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) until we reached a place called Rauha’ near Khaybar. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for food, and only sattu (roasted barley flour) was available. The narrator says: We ate it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) then asked for water, rinsed his mouth, and performed the prayer. He did not perform ablution (wudu) again.

Chapter on Nullifiers of Ablution – Permission to pray after eating meat cooked by fire without washing hands or mouth
Hadith Number: 1153
اخبرنا احمد بن خالد بن عبد الملك ابو بدر ، بحران، قال: حدثنا ابي ، قال: حدثنا شعيب بن إسحاق ، عن هشام بن عروة ، عن وهب بن كيسان ، عن محمد بن عمرو بن عطاء ، عن ابن عباس ، قال:" رايت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم اكل عرقا من شاة، ثم صلى ولم يتمضمض، ولم يمس ماء" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) eat goat meat, then he performed prayer. He did not rinse his mouth nor did he touch water (i.e., he did not perform ablution again).

Chapter on Nullifiers of Ablution – Clarification that the command to perform ablution from food touched by fire was abrogated except for camel meat
Hadith Number: 1154
اخبرنا محمد بن إسحاق بن خزيمة ، قال: حدثنا بشر بن معاذ العقدي ، قال: حدثنا ابو عوانة ، عن عثمان بن عبد الله بن موهب، عن جعفر بن ابي ثور ، عن جابر بن سمرة ، ان رجلا سال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: يا رسول الله، انتوضا من لحوم الغنم؟ قال:" إن شئت فتوضا، وإن شئت فلا تتوضا". قال: اتوضا من لحوم الإبل؟ قال:" نعم، توضا من لحوم الإبل". قال: اصلي في مرابض الغنم؟ قال:" نعم". قال: اصلي في مبارك الإبل؟ قال:" لا" .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man asked the Prophet (peace be upon him), he said: O Messenger of Allah! Should I perform ablution after eating goat meat? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If you wish, perform ablution, and if you wish, do not perform ablution. He asked: Should I perform ablution after eating camel meat? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Yes, perform ablution after eating camel meat. I asked: Can I pray in sheep pens? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Yes. He asked: Can I pray in camel enclosures? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: No.

Chapter on Nullifiers of Ablution – Report indicating that ablution is not required after eating food touched by fire except camel meat, as previously described
Hadith Number: 1155
اخبرنا ابو خليفة ، قال: حدثنا القعنبي ، عن مالك ، عن يحيى بن سعيد ، عن بشير بن يسار ، ان سويد بن النعمان اخبره، انه خرج مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عام خيبر، حتى إذا كنا بالصهباء وهي من ادنى خيبر،" نزل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فصلى العصر، ثم دعا بالازواد فلم يؤت إلا بالسويق، فامر به رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فثري، فاكل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فاكلنا معه، ثم قام إلى المغرب فمضمض، ومضمضنا ولم يتوضا" .
Sayyiduna Suwaid bin Nu'man (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He set out with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) on the occasion of the conquest of Khaybar. The narrator says: When we reached the place of Sahba, which is a location near Khaybar, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) camped there and performed the Asr prayer. Then he ordered food to be brought, but only sattu (barley flour) was presented. By the order of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), it was mixed with water, and then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) ate it. We also ate with him. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up to perform the Maghrib prayer, so he rinsed his mouth, and we also rinsed our mouths. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) did not perform ablution again.

Hadith Number: 1156
اخبرنا محمد بن إسحاق بن خزيمة ، قال: حدثنا بشر بن معاذ العقدي ، قال: حدثنا ابو عوانة ، عن عثمان بن عبد الله بن موهب، عن جعفر بن ابي ثور ، عن جابر بن سمرة ، ان رجلا سال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: يا رسول الله، انتوضا من لحوم الغنم؟ قال:" إن شئت فتوضا، وإن شئت فلا تتوضا". قال: اتوضا من لحوم الإبل؟ قال:" نعم، توضا من لحوم الإبل". قال: اصلي في مرابض الغنم؟ قال:" نعم". قال: اصلي في مبارك الإبل؟ قال:" لا" .

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If you wish, perform ablution, and if you wish, do not perform ablution." He asked, "Should I perform ablution after eating camel meat?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Yes, perform ablution after eating camel meat." I asked, "May I pray in sheep pens?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Yes." He asked, "May I pray in camel enclosures?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "No."
