Sayyiduna Abdullah narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The middle prayer refers to the Asr prayer."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Whoever believes in Allah and His Messenger, establishes prayer, and fasts in Ramadan, it is incumbent upon Allah to admit him into Paradise, whether he migrated in the way of Allah or remained where his mother gave birth to him."

Suhaib narrates that he heard Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) relating this from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): He ascended the pulpit. Then he said: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul." He said this three times, then he fell silent. Then each one of us lowered his head and began to weep. This was due to being saddened by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) swearing an oath. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever performs the prayers, fasts in Ramadan, and avoids the seven major sins, for him the eight gates of Paradise will be opened on the Day of Resurrection, until it is prepared for him. Then he recited this verse: "If you avoid the major sins which you are forbidden, We will remove from you your misdeeds."

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man's prayer performed with the congregation is twenty-five times more virtuous than his prayer performed alone. If a person offers prayer in a deserted place, completes his ablution, and performs the bowing and prostration properly, he will receive the reward of twenty-five prayers."

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) delayed the ‘Isha prayer until half the night had passed. Then he came and said:“People have performed the prayer and have gone to sleep, and you have been counted as being in prayer the whole time you were waiting for it.”Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The shine of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) ring is still before my eyes today.

Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d Sa’idi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say:“Whoever remains in the mosque waiting for the prayer is considered to be in the state of prayer.”

Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d Sa’idi narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him):“Whoever waits for the prayer is considered to be in the state of prayer, as long as he does not lose his ablution.”

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Indeed, the angels continue to pray for mercy for a person as long as he remains at his place of prayer where he performed the prayer. As long as he does not lose his ablution (the angels pray): O Allah! Forgive him. O Allah! Have mercy on him."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him: "When the call to prayer (adhan) is given, Satan turns his back and runs away, passing wind as he goes (he goes so far) until he does not hear the sound of the adhan. When the adhan is completed, he comes back. Then when the call for the commencement of prayer (iqamah) is given, he again turns his back and goes away. When the iqamah is completed, he comes back again. He starts putting thoughts into a person's mind and says, 'Remember such-and-such thing, remember that thing,' things which he would not have remembered otherwise. Until, when a person is performing prayer, sometimes it happens that he does not know how much he has prayed."

Abdullah bin Abu Qatadah narrates from his father: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "When the Iqamah for prayer is called, do not stand up until you see me. It is obligatory upon you to adopt tranquility (that is, calmness and composure)."
