Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture."

Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The noble wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Lady Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), told me this: One day, the Prophet (peace be upon him) was worried. Lady Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Today your mood does not seem right. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Jibreel had promised me that he would meet me last night, but he did not meet me. By Allah, he does not break his promise with me. The narrator says: The Prophet (peace be upon him) spent the whole day in this state. Then the thought of the puppy under his bed came to his mind. By his order, it was taken out. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) took water in his blessed hand and sprinkled it on that place. When evening came, Jibreel (peace be upon him) came to meet the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: You had promised me that you would come to meet me last night. So Jibreel (peace be upon him) said: Yes, but we (angels) do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture.

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) ordered Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) at Batha’ on the occasion of the conquest of Makkah to go to the Ka’bah and erase every image present in it. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did not enter the Ka’bah until all the images inside it had been erased.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the Ka'bah, he found pictures of Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and Sayyidah Maryam (may Allah be pleased with her) inside it. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: As for these people, they know this matter, that angels do not enter a house in which there is a picture. Here is the picture of Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him); when did he ever play dice?

Abu Zar’ah narrates: I and Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) entered the house of Sa’id or perhaps Marwan (the ruler by that name), and Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) saw a picture drawn on the wall. He then related that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty says:“Who could be more unjust than the one who tries to create like My creation? They should try to create a grain, or produce a particle.”(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): They should try to create a grain, or produce a particle—here the words are in the imperative form, but what is meant by this is to render the opponent helpless.

Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: She hung a curtain which had pictures on it. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) entered the house, and he took it down. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I cut it and made two cushions out of it.

One of those present said to the narrator of the hadith: Did you not hear Abu Muhammad mention that Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also leaned against those cushions? So the son of Qasim said: No, however, I did hear him narrate this. The son of Qasim meant Qasim bin Muhammad.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saw pictures inside the house (i.e., inside the Ka'bah), he did not enter it. Upon his command, they were erased. He saw in it a picture in which Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and Sayyiduna Ismail (peace be upon him) had arrows for divination in their hands. So the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: May Allah destroy these people! By Allah, these two noble ones never played with divining arrows.

Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque, and at that time there were three hundred and sixty idols around it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began striking them with the stick he had in his hand, and he kept reciting: "Truth has come and falsehood has vanished; indeed, falsehood is bound to vanish."

Sayyidah Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: In the blessed time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), I used to play with dolls. My friends would come to me, and when they saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), they would get up and leave. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would send them back to me so that they could play with me.

Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me while I was playing with a doll. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) lifted the curtain and asked: O Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her)! What is this? I replied: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! This is a doll. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: What is this thing between them? I replied: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! This is a horse. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Do cloth horses have wings? Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) replied: Did not the horse of our master Sulaiman (peace be upon him) have wings? So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled.
