Hadith Number: 6668
Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to recite this verse: "Whoever fears Allah, Allah will make a way out for him and provide for him from where he does not expect." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept repeating this verse until I became drowsy. He said: O Abu Dharr! If all people adopt this, it will be sufficient for them. Then he said: O Abu Dharr, what will you do when you are expelled from Madinah? I said: I will try, as much as I am able, to become like a pigeon of Makkah (i.e., I will move to Makkah). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What will you do when you are expelled from Makkah as well? I said: I will try, according to my ability and status, to go towards the land of Shaam and the sacred land. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What will you do when you are expelled from there as well? I said: In that case, by the One Who sent you with the truth, I will take my sword and hang it around my neck (and start fighting those people). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Is it not better than this that you obey and follow that Abyssinian slave with a cut nose and ears (who will be the ruler at that time)?

Sayyida Umm Zar (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When the time of death of Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) approached, I began to weep. He asked: Why are you crying? I said: Why should I not cry? While you are about to die in a wilderness, and I do not have enough cloth that would suffice for your shroud. So Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Do not cry, glad tidings for you, for I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say to some people among whom I was present: (The Prophet said:) One of you will die in a wilderness, but a group of believers will attend his funeral prayer.
(Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) said:) Each of those people died in a populated area. Only I am about to die in a wilderness. By Allah! Neither have I lied nor has anyone lied to me. You keep watch on the road. Sayyida Umm Zar said: Now the pilgrims have departed and the roads have been cut off. Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Go and check the road. Sayyida Umm Zar (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I came to the hill, I checked, then I returned to him and began to nurse him. While I was nursing him, suddenly some people arrived there riding their mounts. It seemed as if they were birds. They came and stopped near me. They asked: O bondwoman of Allah, what is your matter? I said to them: A Muslim man is about to die, will you shroud him? They asked: Who is he? I replied: Sayyiduna Abu Dharr. They asked: The one who is the companion of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? I replied: Yes. Sayyida Umm Zar (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Then they said: May our parents be sacrificed for him. Then they quickly went to Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) and presented themselves to him. Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) welcomed them and said: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say to some people among whom I was present:
“One of you will die in a wilderness, but a group of believers will attend his funeral.”
(Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) said:) Each of those people died in a town or among a gathering of people. Only I am about to die in a wilderness. Listen, if I have enough cloth for my shroud or my wife has enough cloth, then only shroud me in my or my wife’s cloth. Listen, I make you witnesses that none among you who is an amir, or an ‘arif, or a barid, or a naqib (i.e., anyone holding any position or rank) should shroud me.
(The narrator says:) There was not a single person among those present who had not held some position. Only one young Ansari was there. He said: O uncle, I will give you the shroud and I will not include that which you have mentioned. I will shroud you in my own sheet and in the two garments I am wearing underneath, which my mother spun for me with her own hands. So that Ansari shrouded Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) in the presence of those people. Among those present were Sayyiduna Hajar bin Adbar and Malik bin Ashter. All these people were from Yemen.

Sayyida Umm Zar (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When the time of death of Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) approached, I began to weep. He asked: Why are you crying? I said: Why should I not cry when you are about to die in a deserted place? I do not even have enough cloth for your shroud, and it will not be possible for me to live in your absence. So Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Glad tidings for you, do not cry. I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "If two or three children of any two Muslims (husband and wife) die and both of them remain patient and hope for reward, they will never see the Fire (i.e., they will not enter Hell)." (Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) also said:) I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say to three men, among whom I was also present: "One of you will certainly die in a deserted place, but a group of believers will attend his funeral prayer."
(Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) said:) Each of those people died in a town or among people, and I am the only one left among them. By Allah! I have neither lied nor has anyone lied to me. You should keep watch for it. (Sayyida Umm Zar (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates:) I said: Now the pilgrims have departed, and the roads are cut off. So Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Go and check. Sayyida Umm Zar (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I quickly walked towards the hill and checked, then returned and began to nurse him. While we were in this state, some people arrived riding their mounts, as if they were birds. Their mounts had brought them. Sayyida Umm Zar (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When those people stopped by me, they quickly came towards me and said: O servant of Allah, what is your matter? I said: A Muslim man is about to die. Will you provide him with a shroud? They asked: Who is that person? The woman replied: Sayyiduna Abu Dharr. They said: The companion of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? I replied: Yes. So they said: May my parents be sacrificed for him. There was no one among those present who did not hold one of these positions, except for one Ansari youth. He said: O uncle! I will shroud you. I will shroud you in this sheet of mine and in these two garments which my mother prepared for me. So Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: You shroud me. So that Ansari, in the presence of those present, shrouded Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him), took care of his (washing, etc.) affairs, and those same people buried Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I asked Sayyiduna Nafi’ bin Utbah bin Abi Waqqas. I said: Tell me, did you hear the Prophet (peace be upon him) mention the Dajjal? He replied: I was present with the Prophet (peace be upon him). At that time, some people from the West were present with him. They had come to accept Islam. They were wearing woolen clothes. When I came close to the Prophet (peace be upon him), I heard him say: "You will fight against the people of the Arabian Peninsula, and Allah will grant you victory over them. Then you will fight against the people of Persia, and Allah will grant you victory over them. Then you will fight against the Romans, and Allah will grant you victory over them. Then you will fight against the Dajjal, and Allah will grant you victory over him."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this statement from Sayyiduna Sufyan bin Abu Zuhair (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When Yemen is conquered, some people will come hastily, bringing their families and their servants (i.e., slaves) mounted with them, although if they had knowledge, Medina would have been better for them. When Sham is conquered, some people will come hastily, bringing their families and their followers (i.e., slaves and maidservants) mounted with them, although if they had knowledge, Medina would have been better for them. Then when Iraq is conquered, some people will come hastily, bringing their families and their servants (i.e., slaves and maidservants) mounted with them, although if they had knowledge, Medina the Illuminated would have been better for them."

Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik Ashja'i (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the occasion of the Battle of Tabuk, I presented myself before the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He was in a tent made of leather. I sat at the edge of it. I greeted him with salam, and he replied to my salam. He said: O Awf, come inside. I asked: All of me? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: All of you. I entered inside and found him performing ablution slowly and calmly. Then he said: O Awf, remember six things that will happen before the Day of Judgment. One of them is my death. Awf narrates: Hearing this, I was shocked. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Say: One. I said: One. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Bayt al-Maqdis will be conquered, then a disease will spread among you, then wealth will increase among you to the extent that if one of you is given a hundred dirhams, he will still be displeased, then a tribulation will appear among you such that no house of a believer will remain except that the tribulation will enter it, then there will be a truce between you and Banu Asfar (i.e., the Romans), but they will break the treaty with you, then they will gather against you under eighty flags, under each flag will be twelve thousand men.
