Chapter: Statement on Breaking Covenants
Hadith Number: 1580
Salim bin Amir reports that there was a treaty for a certain period between Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) and the Romans. Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to go towards their cities so that when the term of the treaty expired, he could attack them. Suddenly, he saw a man on his mount or horse saying: "Allahu Akbar! You should fulfill the covenant on your part, not break it." That man was Amr bin Abasah (may Allah be pleased with him). So Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked him about this, and he said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'If there is a treaty between a man and a people, he should not break the treaty or make a new one until its term has expired or he returns it to them on equal terms.'" Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) then returned with the people. Imam Tirmidhi says:

Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that during the Battle of Ahzab, Sa’d bin Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) was struck by an arrow; the disbelievers had cut his Akhil or Abjal vein (a vein in the arm). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) cauterized it with fire, so his hand swelled, and thus he left it. Then the blood began to flow again, so he cauterized it again, and his hand swelled. When Sa’d bin Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) saw this, he prayed:“O Allah! Do not take my soul until my eyes are cooled by (witnessing) the destruction and humiliation of Banu Qurayzah.”So his vein stopped bleeding, and not a single drop of blood dripped from it, until Banu Qurayzah descended (from their fortress) at the command of Sa’d bin Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called Sa’d, and he came and judged that their men should be killed and their women kept alive so that the Muslims could benefit from their service. __QUR_N__ The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“You have judged concerning them with the judgment of Allah.”Their number was four hundred. When he finished with their execution, Sa’d’s vein opened and he passed away. __QUR_N__ Imam Tirmidhi says:

Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Kill the men among the polytheists and leave those of their boys who have not reached the age of puberty." Those boys are the ones who have not grown pubic hair.
‘Atiyyah Qarazi (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We were presented before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on the day of Qurayzah, so whoever had (pubic) hair grown was killed, and whoever did not have it was let go. I was among those who did not have hair, so I was let go. Imam Tirmidhi says:
1- This hadith is hasan sahih,
2- Some people of knowledge act upon this; if puberty and age are not known, they consider the appearance of (pubic) hair as a sign of puberty. This is also the view of Ahmad and Ishaq bin Rahwayh.
