-" إذا آتاك الله مالا لم تساله ولم تشره إليه نفسك فاقبله، فإنما هو رزق ساقه الله إليك".
Zaid bin Aslam narrates from his father that there was a favored man among the people of Syria. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked him: "Which quality do you possess because of which the people of Syria love you?" He replied: "I participate in jihad with them and show sympathy towards them." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) gave him ten thousand (dinars) and said: "Take this and use it in your expeditions." He said: "I have no need for it." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) offered me less wealth than what I have offered you, and I said the same thing that you have said, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'When Allah gives you some wealth, while you neither asked for it nor were eager for it, then accept it, for it is Allah’s provision which He is granting you.'"

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin Taghlib (may Allah be pleased with him) that some wealth or captives were brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He distributed them, giving to some people and not giving to others. When it reached him that those whom he (peace and blessings be upon him) had not given expressed displeasure, he praised and glorified Allah and said: "As for what follows, by Allah! I give to some and do not give to others. Those whom I leave out (and do not give any wealth, etc.) are more beloved to me than those to whom I give. (Remember) I only give to them because I see anxiety and restlessness in their hearts, and I entrust the others to the richness and goodness that Allah has placed in their hearts. Among those people is Amr bin Taghlib." Amr bin Taghlib says: By Allah! I would not prefer to have red camels in exchange for the statement of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about me.

Sayyiduna Amr bin Taghlib (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave wealth to some people and left out others. -" اما إن كل بناء وبال على صاحبه إلا ما لا، إلا ما لا، يعني: ما لابد منه".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went out, saw a tall dome, and said: "What is this?" The companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It belongs to such-and-such Ansari man." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent and kept this matter in his heart. When its owner came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and greeted him in the presence of the people, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned away from him. He greeted several times (but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept turning away). Eventually, the man realized the displeasure and aversion of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so he complained about this to the companions and said: "By Allah! I find the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) strange and unfamiliar." They said: "You had gone out and he saw your dome." So the man immediately returned to his dome and demolished it, leveling it with the ground. (Then) one day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went out and did not see the dome. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What happened to the dome?" The companions said: "He complained to us about your turning away, and we explained the whole situation of your dislike to him, so he demolished it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Beware! Every building is a burden for its owner, except that for which there is no alternative."

-" إن الرجل يؤجر في نفقته كلها إلا في هذا التراب".
We went to visit our master Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him), who had seven scars on his body, to inquire about his health. He said: If I had not heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying, "Do not wish for death," I would certainly have wished for death. He was repairing his wall (i.e., house, etc.), and during this he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: A man is rewarded for every kind of expenditure he makes except for what he spends on this mud (i.e., there is no reward for building a house).
