It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was present in my house. Some of the noble Companions were sitting with him, engaged in conversation. Meanwhile, a man came and asked: "What is the amount of zakat on this much (quantity) of dates?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "This much dates." He said: "So-and-so has wronged me and taken this much dates from me, that is, he has taken one sa‘ more." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What will happen when rulers are imposed upon you who will wrong you much more than this?" The people began to ponder, and this hadith left them astonished, until a man spoke up: "O Messenger of Allah! If a man is far from you, settled with his camels, cattle, and crops, and he pays the zakat on his wealth, but he is wronged, what should he do, and he is also absent?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever has paid the zakat on his wealth, while his soul is content, seeking Allah’s pleasure and the Hereafter, and he has not concealed any part of his wealth, and he establishes prayer and pays zakat, but he is wronged, and because of that he takes up his weapon and begins to fight, and is killed, then he is a martyr."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) turned towards us and said: "O Muhajirun! There are five (trials) with which you will be tested, and I seek refuge with Allah lest you live to see them: (1) When indecency becomes widespread among a people and they commit it openly, then plague and diseases that were not known among their predecessors will spread among them. (2) When people cheat in weights and measures, they will be afflicted with famine, severe hardship, and the oppression of their rulers. (3) When people withhold the payment of zakat, rain will be withheld from the sky, and were it not for the animals, no rain would fall upon them. (4) When they break their covenant with Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), Allah will enable their enemies, who are not from among them, to overpower them and take some of what is in their hands. (5) When the rulers of the Muslims do not judge according to the Book of Allah and do not give preference to what Allah has revealed, Allah will cause them to fight among themselves."

When their number is from five to nine, then one goat; when from ten to fourteen, then two goats; when from fifteen to nineteen, then three goats; and when from twenty to twenty-four, then four goats will be given in zakat. Bahz bin Hakim narrates from his father, and he from his grandfather Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Haydah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a man comes to his freed slave (or a relative) and asks him for something beyond his need, but he does not give it, then on the Day of Resurrection a snake will be brought for him which will wrap in its mouth the surplus thing that he withheld."

-" إنا لا نقبل شيئا من المشركين".
Hakim bin Hizam says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was the most beloved to him in the era of ignorance. When you claimed prophethood and migrated towards Madinah, and Hakim bin Hizam, while he was a disbeliever, came to Makkah during the season of Hajj and saw that a fine garment of Dhi Yazan was being sold, he bought it to gift to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and reached Madinah. When he presented this garment as a gift before you (peace and blessings be upon him), you refused to accept it. Ubaydullah says: I think that you (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "We do not accept anything from the polytheists, but if you really want to give it, then we will buy it in exchange for its price." When you refused to accept the gift, I gave it (in exchange for the price).

Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "Which deed is the best?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "To have faith in Allah and to strive in His path." I said: "Which slave (to free) is the most virtuous deed?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one who is most valuable and excellent in the eyes of his owners." I said: "If I am not able to do that (free such a slave)?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Help someone who is skilled, or do work for someone who is unskilled." I said: "If I am not able to do even that?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Keep people safe from your evil; this too will be a charity from you for your own self."
