Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) wife sent a bowl in which there was tharid, while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was in the house of another wife. The lady of that house struck the bowl with her hand and it broke. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) joined it together and began putting the tharid back into it. He (peace and blessings be upon him) kept saying,“Eat, your mother has become jealous.”Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) waited until a sound bowl was brought, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave that bowl to the wife whose bowl had been broken.
Imam Darimi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: This is also our opinion (i.e., if someone breaks another’s bowl, he should return a sound bowl in its place).

It is narrated from Amr and Asim, the sons of Sufyan bin Abdullah al-Thaqafi, that their father Sufyan bin Abdullah found a leather pouch. He took it to the Commander of the Faithful, Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: Announce it for one year, and if it is recognized (i.e., if its owner recognizes it, then give it to him), and if it is not recognized, then it is yours. The next year, Sufyan again met Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) with it and mentioned it, so Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: It is yours. This is the ruling that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave regarding lost property. Sufyan said: I have no need for it, so Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) took it and had it deposited in the public treasury (Bayt al-Mal).

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that on the day of the conquest of Makkah, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and said: "Allah Almighty prevented the elephants from entering Makkah, but He granted victory over it to His Messenger and the Muslims. Behold! Makkah was not made lawful for anyone before me (that is, fighting in Makkah), nor will it be made lawful for anyone after me. Listen! From this moment, Makkah is again sacred (forbidden for fighting); its thorns are not to be cut, its trees are not to be cut, and nothing dropped in it is to be picked up except by one who announces it, that is, the one who intends to return it to its owner—only he may pick up something found."
