Hadith Number: 2812
Sayyiduna Suhaib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting when suddenly he laughed and said: "Will you not ask me why I laughed?" The companions said: What makes you laugh? He said: "Every affair of the believer is amazing (pleasing). If something comes to him that he likes, he gives thanks to Allah, so there is goodness for him, meaning he is rewarded for it. And if something befalls him that he dislikes, he is patient, and there is goodness for him in that. And no one has this except the believer."

Hadith Number: 2813

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I used to hear from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and did not know whether these were the words of revelation that were sent down to him or his own words. He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: "If a man has two valleys full of wealth, he will still seek a third valley, and nothing fills the belly of man except dust, and Allah turns with mercy to the one who repents."

Chapter on those most severely tested

Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: Which people are tested the most severely? (Who face the most calamities and hardships?) He replied:“The Prophets, then those who are best after them, then those who are best after them. A person is tested according to the strength of his religion; if he is strong and firm in his religion, his trial is made more severe and intense, and if there is softness and weakness in his heart, then the trial is lessened for him. And a servant continues to be afflicted (with pain, illness, poverty, grief) in this manner until he walks upon the earth and there remains no sin upon him.”

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Indeed, Allah has divided mercy into one hundred parts.
