It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once at the time of sunset, I was in the mosque with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "O Abu Dharr! Do you know where this sun goes?" I replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "It goes and prostrates before its Lord, then seeks permission to return, which is granted to it. When it is said to it, 'Return to where you came from,' it returns to its rising place, and that is its fixed course." Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "The sun runs on its fixed course."

Then he met Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), who said, "Brother! Pray for my forgiveness." Ghudaif said, "You are a companion of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and you are more deserving that you pray for my forgiveness." He replied, "I heard Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) say that Ghudaif is an excellent young man, and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that Allah has made the truth flow on Umar's tongue and heart."

I also joined the gathering. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me, "O Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), have you performed the prayer?" I replied, "No." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Then stand up and perform the prayer." So I stood up, performed the prayer, and then rejoined the gathering. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "O Abu Dharr! Seek Allah's protection from the evil of the devils among humans and jinn." I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Are there devils among humans as well?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Yes." I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What is the ruling regarding prayer?" He said, "It is the best subject; whoever wishes may gain little from it, and whoever wishes may gain much." I asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), what is the ruling regarding fasting?" He said, "It is an obligation; if it is fulfilled, it suffices, and with Allah there is additional reward for it." I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What is the ruling regarding charity?" He said, "Its reward is multiplied twofold, threefold." I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Which charity is the best?" He said, "The charity from the effort of one who has little wealth, or the secret charity to a needy person." I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Who was the first Prophet?" He said, "Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him)." I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Was he a Prophet?" He said, "Yes, and moreover, a Prophet to whom Allah spoke." I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Charity is due from every joint of each of you every morning. Every utterance of SubhanAllah is charity, every utterance of La ilaha illallah is charity, every utterance of Allahu Akbar is charity, every utterance of Alhamdulillah is charity, enjoining good is charity, forbidding evil is charity, and having intercourse with your wife is also charity. I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Is there a reward for us in fulfilling our desire?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Tell me, if you were to fulfill it in a forbidden way, would there not be a sin upon you? I said, "Yes." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then you count the sin, but do not count the good deed. And all of these are compensated by the two rak‘ahs that any one of you prays at the time of Duha.
