Hadith of Umm Salamah, wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith Number: 26600
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in her house when a servant came and informed that Hazrat Ali and Hazrat Fatimah were at the door. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me, "Leave my Ahl al-Bayt alone with me for a little while." So I got up from there and sat nearby. In the meantime, Hazrat Fatimah, Hazrat Ali, and Hasan and Husayn also arrived; both of them were small children. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took them and seated them in his lap and began to kiss them. Then, with one hand he drew Hazrat Ali and with the other Hazrat Fatimah close to him and kissed both of them. After that, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the remaining part of his cloak and covered all of them with it, and then he extended his hand outside and pointed towards the sky and said, "O Allah, not to Hellfire, I and my Ahl al-Bayt are entrusted to You." Upon this, I put my head into the room and said, "O Messenger of Allah, am I not with you?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You too."

Abdur Rahman bin Sabit says that once Hafsa bint Abdur Rahman was visiting me. I said to her, "I want to ask you a question, but I feel shy to ask." She said, "Nephew, do not be shy." I said, "What is the ruling about approaching women from the back?" She replied, "Umm Salamah told me that the men of the Ansar did not approach their women from the back, because the Jews used to say that whoever approaches his wife from behind, his offspring will be cross-eyed. When the Muhajirun came to Madinah, they also married Ansari women and would approach them from behind. But one woman refused to obey her husband in this matter and said, 'You cannot do this until I ask the Prophet (peace be upon him) about its ruling.' So that woman came to Umm Salamah and mentioned it to her. Umm Salamah said, 'Sit down, the Prophet (peace be upon him) will be here soon.' When the Prophet (peace be upon him) arrived, the woman felt shy to ask this question and left. Later, Umm Salamah informed the Prophet (peace be upon him) about this matter. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, 'Call that Ansari woman!' So she was called, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) recited this verse before her: 'Your wives are your fields, so come to your field as you wish,' and said, 'In the front opening (whether the man comes from behind or from the front).'

Just as men are mentioned in the Qur'an, why are we women not mentioned?" Only one day had passed after this when I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) announcing from the pulpit, "O people!" I was combing my hair; I wrapped up my hair and went near the door to listen. I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) saying, "Allah Almighty says: 'Indeed, the Muslim men and Muslim women, the believing men and believing women...' to the end of the verse, ' Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward.'"

So whoever disapproves will be free of responsibility, and whoever expresses dislike will be safe, but whoever is pleased and follows them (his case is different). The companions asked, "O Messenger of Allah, should we not fight against them?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "No, as long as they lead you in the five prayers."
