Prayer times: Clarifying that catching one unit requires completing the rest, not that the whole prayer is caught
Hadith Number: 1486
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Whoever catches one rak'ah of the prayer has caught it; he should complete the remaining part of the prayer."

Prayer times: Narration showing all chains for "whoever catches one unit of Friday prayer" are weak
Hadith Number: 1487
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him: "Whoever catches one rak'ah of the prayer has caught the (whole) prayer." People say this, and on this basis it is said that whoever catches one rak'ah of the Friday prayer will perform the second rak'ah with it.

Prayer times: Command to pray upon waking from sleep
Hadith Number: 1488
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A woman came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). She said: O Messenger of Allah! My husband (Sayyiduna Safwan bin Mu'attal, may Allah be pleased with him) is such that when I pray, he beats me, and when I keep a voluntary fast, he makes me break my fast, and he himself does not perform the Fajr prayer until the sun has risen. The narrator states: Sayyiduna Safwan (may Allah be pleased with him) was present with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him about what the woman had said. Sayyiduna Safwan (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: O Messenger of Allah! As for her saying that when I pray, he beats me, the reason is that she recites two surahs, so I forbid her from this. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If it were only one surah, that would also suffice for the people. Sayyiduna Safwan said: As for her saying that when I fast, he makes me break my fast, she keeps fasting continuously, and I am a young man, I cannot be patient. On that day, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No woman should keep a (voluntary) fast without her husband's permission." Sayyiduna Safwan said: As for her saying that I do not pray until the sun has risen, the situation in our house is such that we do not wake up until the sun has risen. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you wake up, then perform the prayer.

Prayer times: A phrase used by those ignorant of hadith to claim that praying Fajr at dawn is better than in darkness
Hadith Number: 1489
Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "You people should perform the morning prayer with the morning (light), because whenever you perform the morning prayer with the morning (light), it will be more virtuous for your reward. (The narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words) for its reward." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) Here the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has commanded to perform the Fajr prayer with brightness. The reason for this is that there is a hidden cause in this command, and that is that the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to start performing the Fajr prayer in darkness. So, on moonlit nights, when a person intends to perform the Fajr prayer at the time of true dawn in darkness, it is possible that his prayer may begin at night (i.e., before the true dawn has appeared). Therefore, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) commanded to perform the prayer with enough brightness so that it is certain that the true dawn has appeared, and he said: "When you perform the morning prayer," it means that when you are certain that the true dawn has appeared, then this will be a greater cause of reward for you compared to performing the prayer with doubt (i.e., when you are still in doubt about whether its time has begun).

Prayer times: A narration that may mislead some into thinking praying Fajr at dawn is better
Hadith Number: 1491
Sayyiduna Rafi’ bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Offer the Fajr prayer when it becomes bright, for it is more rewarding.”The narrator is in doubt, perhaps these words are:“It is a cause for increasing your rewards.”(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) by his statement“make it bright”meant the moonlit nights in which the appearance of true dawn is not clear. The reason for this is that a person should offer the Fajr prayer at a time when he is certain that it has become bright due to the appearance of true dawn, because when the prayer is offered in the manner we have described, it will be more rewarding than if a person offers the prayer without being certain of the appearance of true dawn.

Prayer times: The time when the Prophet prayed Fajr at dawn
Hadith Number: 1492
Sulaiman bin Buraidah narrates from his father: A man came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and asked him about the times of prayer. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Perform the prayers with us at these two times." When the sun declined, the Prophet (peace be upon him) performed the Zuhr prayer, then he performed the Asr prayer when the sun was still high, bright, and shining. Then he performed the Maghrib prayer after the sun had set, and the Isha prayer when the twilight had disappeared. The Fajr prayer he performed in darkness. When the next day came, the Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), so he gave the iqamah for Zuhr at a cool time, and he gave it at a well-cooled time. Then, by his order, he gave the iqamah for Asr when the sun was still bright; the Prophet (peace be upon him) performed this prayer a little later than the time he had performed it the previous day. By his order, Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the iqamah for Maghrib a little before the twilight had disappeared, and by his order, he gave the iqamah for Isha after a third of the night had passed. By his order, he gave the iqamah for Fajr after it had become light. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked: "Where is the person who asked about the times of prayer?" He replied: "O Messenger of Allah! I am here." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The time for your prayers is between what you have seen."

Prayer times: Clarifying that "the time of your prayer is between what you saw" means yesterday and today
Hadith Number: 1493
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in the morning prayer (Fajr) one day. He performed it in darkness, then the next day he performed it in brightness. Then he said: Where is the person who asked about the time of the prayer? (The time of this prayer) is between these two prayers which we performed yesterday and today.

Prayer times: Clarifying that the Prophet only prayed Fajr at dawn once
Hadith Number: 1494
Usamah bin Zaid reports: Ibn Shihab informed him of this. Once, Umar bin Abdul Aziz was sitting on the pulpit. He delayed the prayer a little, so Urwah bin Zubair said: Do you not know, that Sayyiduna Jibreel (peace be upon him) informed the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) about the times of the prayers? So Umar bin Abdul Aziz said to him: O Urwah! Be mindful of what you are saying. So Urwah said: I heard Basheer bin Abu Mas’ud narrate, he says: I heard Sayyiduna Abu Mas’ud Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate, he says: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say:“Jibreel descended and informed me about the times of the prayers, so I prayed with him, then I prayed with him, then I prayed with him, then I prayed with him, then I prayed with him.”The narrator says: He counted on his fingers and mentioned this about the five prayers. (Sayyiduna Abu Mas’ud Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates:) I saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform the Zuhr prayer when the sun had declined, and when the heat was intense, sometimes he would delay it. I saw him perform the Asr prayer when the sun was still high and bright, and no yellowness had entered it, and a person, after performing this prayer, could reach Dhul-Hulaifah before the sun set. He would perform the Maghrib prayer when the sun had set, and the Isha prayer when the horizon had become dark. Sometimes he would delay this prayer until, when the people gathered (he would then perform it). He would perform the Fajr prayer in darkness, then later, several times, he performed it in brightness. After that, he continued to perform this prayer in darkness until he passed away. He never performed this prayer in brightness again.
