Hadith Number: 659
حدثنا سفيان ، وصالح بن قدامة الجمحي المدني قالا: حدثنا عبد الله بن دينار , انه سمع ابن عمر ، يقول: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لا يتناجى اثنان دون الثالث" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two people should not converse in whispers excluding a third."

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن عمر باحسن منه، عن نافع ، عن ابن عمر ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: " لا يتناجى اثنان دون الثالث" . قال: وكان ابن عمر إذا اراد ان يتناجى وهم ثلاثة دعا رابعا.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Two people should not converse secretly with each other, leaving out a third." The narrator states: Whenever Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) wanted to speak to someone in secret and there were three people present, he would call a fourth person.

حدثنا سفيان ، عن يحيى بن سعيد ، عن القاسم بن محمد ، ان ابن عمر ، قال ليحيى بن حبان: اما ترون القتل شيئا؟ وقد قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لا يتناجى اثنان دون الثالث" .
Qasim bin Muhammad says: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said to Yahya bin Habbaan: "You people do not consider killing to be anything, whereas the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has said: 'Two people should not converse secretly with each other, leaving out a third.'"

حدثنا سفيان ، وعبد العزيز بن محمد قالا: حدثنا مسلم بن ابي مريم ، اخبرني علي بن عبد الرحمن المعاوي ، قال: صليت إلى جنب ابن عمر ، فقلبت الحصى، فلما انصرف، قال:" لا تقلب الحصى، فإن تقليب الحصى من الشيطان، وافعل كما رايت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يفعل، قلت: وكيف رايت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يفعل؟ فوضع يده اليمنى على فخذه اليمنى، وضم ابو بكر ثلاث اصابع ونصب السبابة، ووضع يده اليسرى على فخذه اليسرى وبسطها" .
Ali bin Abdur Rahman Mu'awiyah narrates: I performed prayer beside Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). (During the prayer) I was turning over pebbles. When I completed the prayer, he said: Do not turn over pebbles (during the prayer), because turning over pebbles is the work of Satan. Do as I have seen the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) do. I asked: What did you see the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) do? So he placed his right hand on his right knee. Then Imam Humaydi (may Allah have mercy on him) joined his three fingers together and raised his index finger, and he placed his left hand on his left knee and spread it out.

قال سفيان : وكان يحيى بن سعيد حدثناه، عن مسلم ، فلما لقيت مسلما حدثنيه، وزاد فيه،" وهي مذبة الشيطان، لا يسهو احد"، وهو يقول: هكذا، ونصب الحميدي اصبعه، قال مسلم: وحدثني رجل انه راى الانبياء ممثلين في كنيسة في الشام في صلاتهم قائلين: هكذا، ونصب الحميدي اصبعه.
The same narration is also transmitted with another chain, however, in it these additional words are present: "This is to drive away Satan, so that no person falls into forgetfulness." He also said that in this way, Humaydi (may Allah have mercy on him) raised one of his fingers. The narrator named Muslim says: A person told me that he saw a depiction of some prophets performing prayer in a place of worship in Syria, and they were also doing it in the same manner.

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثني موسى بن عقبة ، قال: سمعت سالم بن عبد الله يحدث، عن ابيه ، قال: لما ذكر رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من الإزار ما ذكر، قال ابو بكر: يا رسول الله إن إزاري يسقط من احد شقي، فقال:" إنك لست منهم" .
Salim bin Abdullah narrates from his father: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) gave the command regarding the lower garment, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! My lower garment slips down from one side. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "You are not among those people."

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: وحدثنا محمد بن عجلان ، عن سعيد بن ابي سعيد ، عن رجل يقال له عبيد بن جريج كان يصحب ابن عمر , انه سال عبد الله بن عمر، فقال: رايتك تصنع شيئا لم ار احدا من اصحابك يصنعه، رايتك لا تهل حتى تنبعث بك راحلتك، ورايتك تلبس هذه النعال السبتية وتوضا فيها، ورايتك لا تستلم من البيت إلا هذين الركنين، ورايتك تصفر لحيتك، فاجابه ابن عمر ، فقال:" رايت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لا يهل حتى تنبعث به راحلته، ورايته يلبس هذه النعال السبتية ويتوضا فيها، ورايته لا يستلم من هذا البيت إلا هذين الركنين، ورايته يصفر لحيته" .
Ubaid bin Juraij, who is a student of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), narrates: He asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), and said: I have seen you doing some actions which I have not seen any of your companions doing. I have seen you begin reciting the Talbiyah when your mount is standing. I have seen you wearing Sibti sandals and performing ablution in them, and I have seen you touch only two corners of the Ka'bah, and I have seen you applying yellow dye to your beard. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) replied: I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) begin reciting the Talbiyah when his mount was standing. And I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wearing Sibti sandals and performing ablution in them, and I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) touch two corners of the Ka'bah, and I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) applying yellow dye to his beard.

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن عمر منذ اكثر من سبعين سنة، عن نافع ، عن ابن عمر ، قال: جاء عمر إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: يا رسول الله! إني اصبت مالا لم اصب قط مثله، تخلصت المائة سهم التي بخيبر، وإني قد اردت ان اتقرب بها إلى الله، فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم:" يا عمر، احبس الاصل، وسبل الثمرة" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) presented himself before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I have acquired a piece of land such as I have never acquired before. I have received one hundred shares in Khaybar and I wish to attain closeness to Allah Almighty through them (i.e., by giving them in charity). So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Umar! Keep this land with you and give its produce in the way of Allah."

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن دينار ، عن ابن عمر ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في اصحاب الحجر: " لا تدخلوا على هؤلاء الذين عذبوا إلا انتم باكون، وإن لم تكونوا باكين، فلا تدخلوا عليهم، فإني اخاف ان يصيبكم مثل ما اصابهم" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the inhabitants of the Valley of Hijr: "Enter the place of those who were punished, weeping. If you cannot weep, then do not go there, for I fear that the same punishment that befell them may befall you."
