It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Sa’ib that on the day of the conquest of Makkah, I presented myself before the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. He, peace and blessings be upon him, faced the Ka'bah and performed prayer, and he, peace and blessings be upon him, took off his blessed sandals and placed them on his left side. Then he, peace and blessings be upon him, began reciting Surah Al-Mu’minun. When the mention of Isa (Jesus) or Musa (Moses) came in the Surah, he, peace and blessings be upon him, started coughing, so he, peace and blessings be upon him, went into bowing (ruku’).

Hazrat Muhammad bin Al-Hanafiyyah narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came out from one of his blessed chambers and sat at its door, and (it was his habit that) when he, peace and blessings be upon him, sat alone, no one would come to him until he, peace and blessings be upon him, himself called someone. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Call Abu Bakr to me. The narrator says: So Abu Bakr came and sat in front of him, peace and blessings be upon him. He, peace and blessings be upon him, whispered to Abu Bakr for quite a while, then he, peace and blessings be upon him, instructed Abu Bakr, so he sat to his right or left side. Then he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Call Umar to me. So Umar came and sat in Abu Bakr’s place (in front), and he, peace and blessings be upon him, also whispered to him for a long time. During this, Umar’s voice became loud and he said: O Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him! These are the chiefs of disbelief. These are the people who thought you were a sorcerer, called you a soothsayer, considered you a liar, and accused you of fabricating lies. Umar mentioned all those things that the people of Makkah used to say about the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Then he, peace and blessings be upon him, instructed Umar to sit on his other side. So one of these two elders sat on his right and the other on his left. Then the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, called the people and said: Shall I not tell you the example of your two companions? The people said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him! So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, turned his blessed face towards Abu Bakr and said: Know that Ibrahim was softer regarding Allah Almighty than milk mixed with oil. Then he, peace and blessings be upon him, turned his blessed face towards Umar and said: Nuh was harder regarding Allah than stone. And the decision is as Umar has made. Then the companions began to prepare and stood up, and followed behind Abu Bakr, saying: O Abu Bakr! We do not like to ask Umar, but what did the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, whisper to you? Abu Bakr said: He, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me: What do you say about fighting the people of Makkah? Abu Bakr said: I replied: O Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him! They are your own people. And he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: I see that soon these people will obey me. Abu Bakr said: Then he, peace and blessings be upon him, called Umar, and Umar said: These people are the chiefs of disbelief, and he mentioned every bad thing they used to say. And by Allah! Until the people of Makkah are humiliated, the Arabs will not be humiliated. So he, peace and blessings be upon him, has commanded you to perform jihad so that you may attack Makkah.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) besieged the people of Ta’if, but none of them came into his hands. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“We will return tomorrow.”The Muslims said,“We will return even though we have not conquered it?”Upon this, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“(Go ahead) fight in the morning as well.”So the companions fought in the morning, but they themselves were wounded. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“We will depart tomorrow.”This pleased the companions, and upon this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled.

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) conquered Makkah, he set out towards Taif and besieged the people of Taif for eighteen or nineteen (days), but could not conquer Taif. Then, one morning or one evening, he intensified the siege. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) camped, and at midday he set out and said: O people! I will reach (the destination) before you, so I advise you to goodness with my honor. And know for sure that the place of my promise with you is the Hawd (the Pond). By the One in Whose hand is my soul, you must establish prayer and you must pay zakat, or I will send to you one man from among myself, like myself, who will strike the necks of those who fight (the believers) and will take their people captive. The narrator says: People thought that this man would be Hazrat Abu Bakr or Hazrat Umar. But the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the hand of Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: This is the man.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Zubair that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) besieged the people of Taif. Then the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! The spears of Banu Thaqif have burnt us, so pray to Allah against them." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "O Allah! Guide Banu Thaqif." He said this twice. The narrator says: Then Hazrat Khawla came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "I have heard that the daughter of Khuza'ah has many ornaments. So if Allah grants you victory over Taif tomorrow, please gift me her ornaments." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "What if Allah does not permit us to fight them?" At this, a man—according to us, it was Hazrat Umar—said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Why have you encamped against a people whom you have not been permitted to fight?" The narrator says: Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the people to depart, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) came and encamped at the place of Ji'ranah, and there he (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed the spoils of Hunayn. Then from there, he (peace and blessings be upon him) entered for Umrah, and after (performing) Umrah, he went to Madinah Munawwarah.
