The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was wearing a cloak and was applying some sulfur to his camel. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Do you have any dates?" I said: "Yes." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took those dates, chewed them in his blessed mouth, then took the child and gave him tahneek in such a way that the child opened his mouth and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put the chewed material from his mouth into the child's mouth, and the child ate it and began to taste its flavor. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Ansar love nothing except dates." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) named the child Abdullah.
