Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up to perform prayer and we also stood up with him. During the prayer, a Bedouin said: O Allah! Have mercy on me and on Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and do not have mercy on anyone else along with us. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer, he said to that Bedouin: "You have made something vast, narrow." (The narrator says) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) meant the mercy of Allah Almighty.

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) visited Lady Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her). She brought dates and ghee to serve him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Put your ghee back in its container and your dates back in their container, for I am fasting." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed voluntary prayer. We also prayed behind him in congregation. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called Lady Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) and the members of her household. Lady Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "O Messenger of Allah! I have a request." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Umm Sulaym! What is it?" She said: "Your servant Anas (please supplicate for him)." (Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates:) So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated for me for goodness in this world and the Hereafter. (He supplicated:) "O Allah! Grant him wealth and children, and bless him in them." Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Among the people, I have the most children. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: My daughter Amina has informed me that, until Hajjaj became governor of Basra, one hundred and twenty of my descendants (children and grandchildren) had passed away.

Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The people complained to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about the lack of rain. The Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered for the pulpit to be brought. It was placed in the Eid ground. The Prophet (peace be upon him) promised the people a day that they should go out on that day. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When the disc of the sun appeared, the Prophet (peace be upon him) came out, sat on the pulpit, and praised and glorified Allah Almighty. He said: "You people have complained about your gardens drying up and the long period without rain. Allah Almighty has commanded you to supplicate to Him, and He has promised you that He will accept your supplication." Then he said: "All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate, Master of the Day of Judgment. O Allah! There is no deity except You. You do whatever You will. O Allah! You alone are Allah, there is no deity except You. You are Self-Sufficient and we are needy. So send down rain upon us, and whatever You send down upon us, make it a source of strength and sufficiency for a fixed term." Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) raised both his hands until we could see the whiteness of his armpits. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) turned his back to the people and turned his cloak inside out. At that time, he had both his hands raised, then he turned towards the people and descended from the pulpit. Then he performed two units of prayer, and Allah Almighty created clouds, there was thunder and lightning, and by Allah's command, rain began to fall. The Prophet (peace be upon him) was still in the mosque (i.e., the Eid ground) when the drains began to flow. When the Prophet (peace be upon him) noticed that the people had covered themselves with their clothes, the Prophet (peace be upon him) smiled so much that his side teeth became visible. He said: "I bear witness that Allah Almighty has power over all things, and indeed I am Allah's servant and His Messenger."

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man entered the mosque on Friday through the door facing the pulpit while the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was delivering the sermon. The man stood in front of you and said: O Messenger of Allah! The livestock are perishing and the roads are cut off. Pray to Allah, the Exalted, to send down rain upon us. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) raised his hands and supplicated:“O Allah! Send down rain upon us. O Allah! Send down rain upon us.”Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: By Allah! At that time, we could not see any cloud or even a patch of cloud in the sky between us and the mountain of Sila’. There was no cloud over any house or neighborhood. Meanwhile, a cloud appeared from behind that (mountain) like a shield, and when it reached the middle of the sky, it spread and then it started to rain. By Allah, we did not see the sun for six days. On the next Friday, a man entered through that door while the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was delivering the sermon. He stood in front of you and said: O Messenger of Allah! The livestock are perishing and the roads are cut off. Pray to Allah, the Exalted, to withhold the rain from us. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) raised his hands and supplicated:“O Allah! Let it be around us and not upon us. O Allah! Let it be on the hilltops, open fields, and forests.”The narrator says: The clouds dispersed and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went out walking in the sunlight. The narrator says: I asked Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): Was it the same man as before? He replied: I do not know.
