Indeed, Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was Your servant and Your prophet, and I am also Your servant and Your prophet.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him: "The space between my house and my pulpit is a garden from the gardens of Paradise, and my pulpit will be upon my cistern (Hawd)." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:): Regarding the words transmitted in both these narrations, we have already explained in our books that the Arabs, in their idiom, sometimes use the name of the intended thing for its cause. When a Muslim, by obeying Allah near the pulpit of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, attains closeness to Him and hopes for acceptance and the reward of Paradise, then here the name of the intended thing, which is Paradise, is used for its cause, which is the pulpit. Similarly, the statement of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, "a garden from the gardens of Paradise," and likewise his statement, "my pulpit is upon my cistern," means that a person should hope to drink from the Hawd al-Kawthar and reach the gardens of Paradise. He will reach there because of his obedience and submission at this place in the world. This is similar to the statement of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him: "The one who visits a sick person is in a garden of Paradise." So when a person visiting the sick is, at the time of his visit, in such a state that he can hope to reach a garden of Paradise, and this is the intended meaning, then here the name of the intended thing is used for its cause. An example of this is the statement of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him: "Paradise is under the shade of swords." There are many more such examples, which we will soon mention further in this book, if Allah...
